About Us

Who We Are

The name Immanuel means “God with us,” a sign that God protects us, and, more importantly, another name for Jesus. He is the foundation of our faith. Jesus Christ is the Son of God from eternity, who came to earth to save us from our sins and eternal judgment by living a life without sin, dying on the cross, and rising from the dead after three days. Because of Jesus, we get to go to heaven.

Our mission, then, is to Gather, Grow, Give, and Go in God’s love.

God’s love and forgiveness are for all people. Since 1860, Immanuel has been sharing that love and forgiveness with all people! Whatever your age or background, wherever you are in your life’s journey, we invite you to be a part of a loving Christian community that strives to share the joy of knowing and serving Jesus.

Immanuel is a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS).

Our Beliefs

We believe in one God who exists in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three persons are equal in power, authority, and majesty. God is the creator and ruler of all things. He is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, never-changing.

Genesis 1:1-27; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

The Bible is God's Word. It is God's message to us. The Bible was written by a variety of human authors spanning about 1,500 years, but the words are from the Holy Spirit, who "breathed into" the writers. The Bible is the authority that points us to Jesus Christ as our only Savior. It is completely free of mistakes, errors, or contradictions.

2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105; Psalm 12:6; Proverbs 30:5

Mankind is God's prize creation. People were originally created in the image of God, holy and sinless. God's treasured creation would reflect his love in the way they loved God, loved each other, and loving cared for the world around them.

Genesis 1:27

The first people, Adam and Eve, made a choice to deviate from their love of God. That choice to sin has broken all of creation, destroying the perfect love and harmony that had existed, and resulting in pain, suffering, and death. We no longer live in a perfect world, and are no longer able to love God and others perfectly as was intended. We are now natural enemies of God, and if we were left to our own devices, would be destined for eternal punishment from a just God.

Romans 5:12-21; Psalm 51:5; Ephesians 2:1-5; Luke 15; Luke 19:10; John 3:1-21; Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 9:6-15

Thankfully, we are not left to our own devices! Since we are God's prized creation, he only wants the best for us. So, God sent his Son, Jesus, to save us. As both God and man, Jesus did what we can not do. He lived a perfect life in order to give us his righteousness as a gift. He sacrificed himself for our sins by dying on the cross and endured the pain of separation from God on the cross for us so that we never have to be apart from God. Three days later, he rose from the dead. God has provided us a way to be forgiven, and also provides us with the faith to trust in Him and His forgiveness. Salvation comes by grace alone, through faith alone, by God alone.

Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; John 15:5-16; Romans 3:20-26; Acts 16:31; Romans 10:17

Just as Jesus was raised from the dead, so, too, will we. One day, Jesus will return to fix everything that sin has broken. He will come to judge everyone, and to transform his people and the world into what God originally intended it to: a world filled with God, his prized creation, and perfect love. Until then, Immanuel will continue to make an eternal difference in people's lives as we gather, grow, give, and go with God's Word.
